Everything We Know About Zaria Simone

Zaria Simone

Zaria is an ancient city in Northern Nigeria and has the pride of being home to the biggest university in the whole of Black Africa, the Ahmadu Bello University. Sharing a name with a city of such history and intellectual standing is a place to begin to tell the story of Zaria Simone. She is an intellectual and a rising amazon in the movie industry.

And no, we do not expect you to take our words for this. See for yourself.

Age, birthplace, and early life

Zaria is said to have been born on the 26th day of April 1996. Zaria is a rather private person and one thing she has successfully kept under wraps is her place of birth. In fact, even her year of birth is not cast on the rock. She is 25 years old but if you are taken before a powerful deity, don’t swear on it. Don’t quote us.

The only thing we know about her growing up is that she started acting early on, before her 11th birthday. Poetry is something she did a lot as a teenager.

In August 2020, she compiled these poems into a “We Got A Lot to Be Mad About”. According to the description on Amazon, it is “Poetry for the fiery souls” and “an ode to the civil unrest and an expression of gratitude for the lack of complacency while civilians are murdered by their police in the streets of America” and dedicated to ” fighting for the civil rights movement of 2020.”

Simone went crowned her teenage age by entering college where she bagged a degree in International Relations.

Career

At school, Zaria Simone decided to pursue a career in Hollywood. She moved to Los Angeles but for a couple of years, she didn’t land a role for the screen and had to do odd jobs to pay her bills. Her first role came in 2018 when she was cast by Ellis E. Fowler as Britney Wright in “Emotical”.

Next, in 2019, she was in the ABC sitcom “Black-ish”. For just an episode but it was enough to continually announce to everyone she was ready to take on the world.

Her break came in 2019 when she was cast in “Two Distant Strangers” a 2020 short film written by Travon Free and directed by Free and Martin Desmond Roe which follows the deaths of Black Americans during encounters with police through the eyes of a character, Carter, trapped in a time loop.

Zaria played the role of Perri, Carter’s date.

The movie was released in November 2020 and was acquired in April a few weeks before it was awarded the Best Live Action Short Film at the 93rd Academy Awards in 2021. The film had earlier won Best Short Film in African-American Film Critics Association awards.

Her next role was as Courtney in “Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!” a comedy series created by Jamie Foxx and Jim Patterson that premiered on Netflix on April 2021. The show didn’t make it beyond its first season of eight episodes.

Relationship and where is she today?

Zaria Simone is in a relationship but she is keeping it out of the reach of the media.

She lives in Los Angeles, a city she loves so much, minus the traffic. The story of Zaria Simone is one that we put a period with open-endedness which we reserve for stories of people we believe we are yet to hear the end of. Zaria is only going to continue to fill up paragraphs.
