Flawless, spotless, and glowing skin is the desire of many people. This, however, does not come on a platter of gold. The series of beauty products flooding the market does not make it convenient for people to choose. The myriad of options available makes it pretty tough for people to develop an effective skincare routine that will work for them.

It is very much possible to achieve flawless skin without shelling out hundreds of dollars on skincare products. With simple basics like getting enough sleep, drinking plenty of water, washing the face, you can set the perfect foundation for flawless skin. 

This article will discuss a series of tips recommended by dermatologists and beauty experts to get flawless skin. Here are tips from the expert:

1.    Make Your Meals Balanced and Nutritious 

The skin does an excellent job of reflecting the nature of our meals. As a result, take note of what you eat as it will show on your skin. Also, ensure your skin is rich in fruits, vegetables, and vitamins, as it will keep your skin healthy. 

You also need to stay away from spicy foods, high sugar diets, and foods rich in high sugar. Here are examples of food that you should consider eating 

  • Foods rich in vitamin C: Vitamin C encourages collagen production and can help you have flawless skin. Inadequate vitamin C can trigger aging, wrinkles, and fine lines. You can get vitamin C from red pepper, citrus fruits, and broccoli. 
  • Antioxidants: This will help combat inflammation responsible for wrinkles. Foods like spinach, blueberries, seeds, green tea, nuts, etc., are a good choice. 
  • Healthy Fats: Not all fats are bad. For instance, the fats on nuts and seeds are nutritious. Nuts have omega-3 fatty acids essential for healthy skin. Make sure to add foods like walnuts, fish, and almonds to your food. 
  • Zinc and Iron: Zinc encourages the production of cells, giving your skin a fresh look. Iron helps transport oxygen, which helps the skin glow. Foods like red meat, milk, eggs, and legumes are best.

2.    Exfoliate

Exfoliation comprises removing dead skin cells from the skin. The presence of these dead cells on the skin can lead to breakouts and clogging of the pores. In addition, excessive buildup of dead cells will affect the skin, giving a dull appearance. With this, the skin will look flaky, with a high tendency of aging prematurely. 

Here are recommended method of exfoliation that will help clear up dead skin:

  • A facial brush – the motorized version
  • A salicylic acid mask (2 percent solution)
  • Glycolic lotion or acid mask – 10% or less solution

The frequency of exfoliation is a manner of exfoliation type. When using a physical exfoliating agent like brushes and scrubs, the ideal should be at least thrice a week, while chemical exfoliating agents should be at least once a week. 

3.    Your Cleanser should be mild.

In choosing a cleanser or facial cleaner, you have many options that make the entire process overwhelming. However, in your choice of the best cleanser, it does not have to be fancy or expensive. According to a study, there is not much difference when examining skin breakouts, irrespective of the type of cleanser used. The review involved 14 studies that examined many products like antibacterial soaps, cleansers with alpha and beta hydroxy acids, and cleansing bars.

The idea is not to choose the most expensive cleanser at the grocery store but keep it as simple as possible.

4.    Wash Your Face twice at least

Make sure to always wash your face if you are especially prone to oily skin. It should be part of your rituals every morning and evening. Also, make sure to wash your makeup off before sleeping. There are significant changes in the skin over the night, making it essential to cleanse it first when you wake up. This will help eliminate bacteria and dead cells and also prepare the skin for makeup products. 

When the day ends, the skin has been exposed to many unpleasant things like pollution, makeup, heat, and toxins. This makes it essential to get the dirt particles sitting on the skin off. It is not about using makeup remover but clean water to wash the face. 

5.    Avoid Exposure to Heat

It is not only about staying away from the sun. You need to take it easy when bathing with warm water. Also, getting too close to heaters and fireplaces can negatively affect the skin. It can cause the collagen to break down and trigger inflammation. As a result, make sure to keep a distance of at least 10 feet between you and an open fire. Be careful of grills as well. 

6.    Encourage Hydration

Whatever skin type you have (dry or oily), you need to balance the sebum production, avoid flakes and replenish lost moisture. In addition, make sure you use lotions to get rid of some of the dead skin cells and give a smooth feeling by including an oily layer on the surface. 

In choosing lotions and skin cream, be careful of the ingredients. Your skin type and any underlying skin conditions like eczema or acne should guide your choice of ingredient. The selection of the wrong moisturizer could make these skin conditions worse.
